The FAA has issued a special airworthiness information bulletin (SAIB) to all Eurocopter BO 105 operators. A recent accident investigation showed that a field-approved anti-torque pedal cover box can limit the pilot’s input. The FAA therefore recommends the replacement of the field-approved cover box with an STC’d pedal safety kit. The SAIB affects mainly BO 105s in EMS operations, but it might apply to other operations and other aircraft with such a cover box installed, the FAA said. A cover box is used to protect the remaining parts of the pedals when they are removed on one side of the cockpit.
