The battle continues at Teterboro Airport, where the FAA has vetoed plans by the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey that would restrict aircraft using Teterboro Airport to those weighing 80,000 pounds or less (20,000 pounds lower than the current limit), impose higher landing fees and ban overnight check-sourier flights. In mid-July, FAA Eastern Region chief Arlene Feldman told the Port Authority that the agency would not support the proposed changes. “We will continue to look for ways to enhance safety, but we do not view the restrictions proposed in your recent comments as part of that effort,” she said in a letter to the Port Authority. The Port Authority may now find FAA approval through a review process or arbitrarily impose the restrictions and risk losing federal funding.
