Aviation data provider Jeppesen has reached separate agreements with the world’s two biggest airplane manufacturers to bring electronic flight bag (EFB) technology to the flight decks of new and in-service airplanes.

Jeppesen and Airbus have finalized a cooperation agreement that will see Jeppesen’s electronic flight bag applications and data in the cockpits of Airbus aircraft. Jeppesen EFB data will be offered on the A320 series, the A330, A340 and A380. The companies have been working closely together for more than a year under a memorandum of understanding to make Jeppesen’s terminal charts and en route moving-map applications available for EFBs aboard Airbus airliners and the ACJ. The first entry into service of an Airbus EFB with Jeppesen applications, in an A330, is scheduled for this spring.

EFB maker navAero, meanwhile, reported it has received an STC for its tBag C22 portable tablet computer, installed as a Class 2 EFB in a Boeing 737-800 operated by Miami Air International. The company claims that this STC of the computer and display system along with the Jeppesen EFB software is the first-ever deployment of an integrated Class 2 EFB system that will allow a commercial operator to achieve a totally electronic “paperless” cockpit.
