Honeywell has announced plans to build an FAA-certified, 1,800-shp version of its military T53 turbo-shaft engine to fit the recently certified Bell 210.
The engine maker has developed a design and manufacturing process that combines FAA-approved parts and certain Milspec components reworked to OEM specifications, in a civilian-certified variant. The T53-17BCV will be delivered as a zero-time engine, backed by a four-year or 2,000-hour factory warranty.
It will feature durability improvements that should deliver an initial TBO of 5,000 hours.
