A Eurocopter EC 145 will be introduced to Gulf of Mexico operations by Taylor Energy, a New Orleans-based independent oil and gas production company. One helicopter was delivered in March, and Taylor placed an option on a second, to be delivered next year.

Jim Bell, Taylor Energy’s chief pilot, said the company was impressed with the EC 145’s high-set main and tail rotors, which increase safety margins during loading and unloading. “The large open cabin and cockpit also facilitate the handling of both passengers and cargo.” Also influencing Taylor’s choice was the quick delivery timetable for the type.
