Under the terms of an agreement with BLR Aerospace, Landmark Aviation has become an authorized dealer for the Everett, Wash.-based aerospace research and development firm. The arrangement allows five Landmark Aviation locations, previously designated as Raytheon authorized service centers, to install winglets designed, certified and manufactured by BLR for King Air 200s. The authorized Landmark Aviation sites are located in Leesburg, Norfolk and Roanoke, Va.; and Winston-Salem and Greensboro, N.C.

“This agreement is a logical extension of our relationship with BLR and takes advantage of the experienced technicians and familiarity we have gained over years of working on Raytheon-produced aircraft,” said Bob Fox, Landmark Aviation’s regional director of maintenance. “The technology provides significant enhancements to the King Air 200’s performance and represents another opportunity for us to offer our longstanding Raytheon Aircraft customer base a significant and cost-effective improvement to their aircraft.”

BLR Aerospace was founded in 1992 to provide productivity, performance and safety enhancements to general aviation aircraft using its expertise in airflow manipulation technology. The company has received approximately 60 FAA supplemental type certificates (STC) since its founding.

Separately, Landmark Aviation’s Associated Air Center on Dallas Love Field has received FAA designated alteration station certification. It authorizes the aircraft completion center to act on behalf of the FAA to issue STCs and experimental airworthiness certificates and to amend standard airworthiness certificates.

“Associated Air Center has demonstrated to the FAA the highest level of quality and integrity in its entire aircraft modification process, from the initial engineering design to the finished aircraft,” said Associated Air Center president Jeff Bosque. “This certification covers all of our work including designing and installing safety and flight-management systems, room décors, furnishings, entertainment systems and passenger seating. It also will allow us to streamline our build and delivery cycle. Ultimately it benefits our customers by reducing aircraft downtime.”

Landmark Aviation’s Springfield, Ill. aircraft repair and completion center, which provides modifications for business jets ranging in size from the Raytheon Hawker and Beechjet to the Bombardier Global Express, also holds DAS certification.
