An advisory board of pilots and aircraft owners met at Embraer’s headquarters in South America last month to evaluate the man-machine interface of the Phenom 300’s Prodigy cockpit. Based on the Garmin G1000 avionics system, Prodigy employs what Embraer refers to as a “quiet and dark” design philosophy, providing heightened situational awareness and clear instructions well suited to single-pilot operations. The $6.65 million (2005 $) Phenom 300 light twinjet, in the joint definition phase at Embraer’s São José dos Campos, Brazil development test center, is scheduled for certification in 2009.
