A lifelong aviation enthusiast who joined&nbsp;AIN&nbsp;in 2007, Curt came to&nbsp;the publication&nbsp;from the broadcast industry where he was a national science and technology television reporter and producer. He writes on the FBO field, aviation finance, and sustainable aviation and occasionally contributes to&nbsp;AIN&nbsp;sister publication&nbsp;Business Jet Traveler. Curt was a member of the AINtv reporting staff that won the 2008 Aerospace Journalist of the Year award for Best Airshow Daily. That same year, he was a finalist for another AJOYA award. He earned an AJOYA for Best Business Aviation Submission in 2018 and was a finalist in that category in 2021. He received the National Air Transportation Association’s&nbsp; Aviation Journalist Award in 2012 and won a Pegasus Sapphire Business Aviation Award for outstanding journalism in 2021.
Before joining AIN, Curt worked with&nbsp;Consumer Reports’ television division, CRTV, and for several local television news staffs. An honors graduate of the State University of New York at Stony Brook, he earned a master’s degree in broadcast journalism from Boston University in 1995. Curt lives in New York State with his wife and two young sons.

Embraer Executive Jets logged a record third quarter, delivering 41 aircraft, an increase of more than 45% from third-quarter 2023, according to the airframer’s third quarter financial results released this morning. Revenues for its private jet division—which accounts for one-third of the company’s net revenue—rose by 65% year over year (YOY).
The delivery mix for the quarter was fairly evenly split between Embraer’s light and super-midsize families, including four Phenom 100EXs, 18 Phenom 300Es, nine Praetor 500s, and 10 Praetor 600s.
Through the first nine months of the year, the OEM has delivered 86 business jets—20 more than through the same period in 2023—and is well on its way toward meeting its forecast range of 125 to 135 aircraft this year.
Parent Embraer reached a backlog of $22.7 billion, a nine-year high. The business jet segment’s backlog stood at $4.4 billion for the quarter, an increase of 3% YOY but a 4% decrease from the second quarter, which the company attributed to increased delivery tempo and a “seasonally slower period for sales because of summer in the northern hemisphere.”
In the company’s services and support division, the backlog reached $3.5 billion, an increase of more than 25% YOY and up more than 10% quarter over quarter.
