Vision Systems Electronic Dimmable Windows on Display
Suspended particle device smart glass dimmable windows provide infinite variable shading and instant response time.
Electronically dimmable windows lower heat and noise levels and reduce solar radiation.

Vision Systems (Stand 1460) is displaying at the Dubai Airshow its electronically dimmable window (EDW) technology, which allows passengers to change the opacity of their windows from clear to opaque and helps keep cabins cool and quiet. Suitable for first-class commercial and private VIP aircraft applications, the French company’s shading systems also incorporate an integrated infrared barrier to enhance heat blockage and multiple layers of noise-attenuating films to reduce cabin noise.

Employing suspended particle device (SPD) smart glass, these EDWs provide infinite variable shading and instant response time, while blocking more than 99.9 percent of harmful UV light, even in clear mode. The thin, lightweight, scratch-resistant composite glass that replaces the dust panel also delivers superior optical performance, according to Vision Systems, and with no moving parts, it can also reduce maintenance costs and downtime.

The range of EDWs on display in Dubai include a dimmable helicopter window and a multizone dimmable aircraft window with an integrated control panel that provides opacity control of a chosen zone or sections of a single window. Also showcased are a smart partition based on electroluminescent technology that combines a dimmable system and an information display, for windows or cabin dividers, and Vision Systems’s high-end motorized shades.
