Emirates Signs 777X Satcom Antenna Contract With Esterline
The CMA-2200SB satcom antenna is light weight and low drag.

Esterline Avionics Systems (Stand 1440) has signed a deal with Emirates to supply its CMC Electronics intermediate gain antenna (IGA), the CMA-2200SB, for installation on the Boeing 777Xs the airline is due to take delivery of starting in 2020.

The company said the antenna is ARINC 781 compliant and supports cockpit safety service and multi-channel Inmarsat SwiftBroadband (SBB) satcom.

“Considering the 777X’s flight deck satcom target to be a light installation, Emirates finds the Class 7 SBB data rate of the CMA-2200SB to be adequate for cockpit use, while reaping the benefits of a new technology, lower weight and less drag IGA,” according to Esterline. “It has been assessed to be the lightest weight and lowest drag multi-channel top-mount satcom antenna.”

Based in Quebec, Canada, Esterline has delivered its antenna systems to 120 airlines, as well as to OEM, military, corporate and VIP customers.

The CMA-2200SB has gained FAA and Transport Canada Technical Standard Order (TSO) approval.
