The Abu Dhabi-based joint A380 MRO Services Center, run by Airbus and Etihad Airways Engineering (EAE), started work on its first third-party C-check at the end of October, aircraft A380 MSN072, owned by Lufthansa.
Following an initial inspection phase, the aircraft will undergo the heavy check at EAE’s maintenance facility adjacent to Abu Dhabi International Airport.
“The extensive work scope, which includes major structural checks and incorporation of the mandatory Service Bulletins, is supported by an onsite Airbus technical advisory team,” Airbus said in a media release November 10.
EAE recently joined the international “Airbus MRO Alliance,” helping offer airlines MRO and engineering capabilities in Abu Dhabi, and “delivering turnkey solutions under one roof,” Airbus said.
During the actual heavy maintenance event, Airbus helps speed up the process using its technical expertise and logistics prowess, to minimise time the aircraft is on the ground.
