Russia’s Engineering Holding has entered the MRO market for the Embraer E170 with the start of a partnership between S7 Engineering and Sibir Techics to maintain S7 Airlines’ fleet of E170-100LRs. S7 became the first operator of the E170 in Russia this spring, following the award of a Russian type certificate for the model in October.
By the time S7s first E170 entered service, both S7 Engineering and Sibir Technics had secured relevant expansions to their EASA Part 145 and OTAR 145 certificates for the new type.
Engineering Holding subsidiary Sibir Technics manages S7 Airlines’ E170 maintenance under its own OTAR 39 certificate.
Embraer provides Engineering Holding with full-time access to all of its remote after-sale support services, and both S7 Engineering and Sibir Technics carry spare parts for the type.
“We sent our most experienced technicians, who already have ratings for other aircraft types and instructor/certification ratings, to train in Europe,” said Engineering Holdings regional director Sergey Kravchanko. “They will keep transferring their knowledge to other specialists. So as S7 Airlines continues to expand its fleet we will continue to increase our staff approved for E170 maintenance.”
S7 Engineering’s Aviation Training Center has won approval for staff training for the E170 and has procured respective expansion to its EASA Part 147 certificate. The E170 is the seventh aircraft type for which the company holds maintenance approvals.
