Air Traffic Controllers Arrested for Theft of Public Funds
FAA employees allegedly gained unauthorized access to federal payroll system.

Two former controllers assigned to the tower of New York’s JFK International Airport were arrested October 28 and charged with theft of government funds by manipulating the FAA’s time and attendance system. The charges state that Asif Ali and Jeffrey Evagues falsified records more than 300 times between September 2011 and October 2014 to indicate they were at work when they were not. The estimated payroll overpayments to Ali and Evagues are $83,000 and $87,000, respectively.
