Silver Airways chief financial officer Sami Teittinen replaced Dave Pflieger as the airline’s CEO as of September 5. The switch came after Pflieger accepted Hawaii Island Air’s chief executive position, held by Paul Casey until October 1. Casey has agreed to serve as a senior advisor for Island Air’s board of directors.
Teittinen joined Silver Airways as its CFO in January and brings more than 20 years of aviation industry experience to the Silver Airways top position. Previously, he served as a CFO with BBA Aviation Flight Support, where he held key leadership positions with Aircraft Service International Group and Signature Flight Support, along with BBA Aviation Flight Support Division.
Before his tenure with Silver Airways, Pflieger led the restructuring and rebranding of Fiji’s national carrier, Air Pacific, into Fiji Airways, introducing a new fleet of Airbus A330s as CEO and managing director. Before moving to Fiji, Pflieger helped launch Virgin America as general counsel and senior vice president of government affairs. He also held executive posts with Delta Air Lines and its low-fare subsidiary, Song, and as a pilot flew Delta Boeing 767s, 757s and 737s as well as Airbus A320s.
