Senior Aerospace Expands to Support 787 Production
U.S.-based supplier creates satellite facility to serve Boeing South Carolina.

Senior Aerospace AMT of Columbia, South Carolina, manufacturer of structural parts for commercial aircraft OEMs, announced on the eve of the Farnborough Airshow establishing a satellite operation in the Charleston, South Carolina area to serve Boeing South Carolina, which manufactures portions of the 787 Dreamliner.

The new facility will bring 60 new skilled jobs to the region, and aims to meet increasing build-rate requirements by assembling existing products within the Charleston area for delivery to Boeing South Carolina. Senior Aerospace (Hall 4 Stand G19) expects the site will be operational by the end of this year, and is creating a pre-employment training program to begin filling jobs.

"We are excited to expand into the Charleston region and believe our new site will create value to our largest customers by providing products just in time and at point of use,” said Jerry Goodwin, Senior Aerospace–Aerostructures CEO.

Several aerospace suppliers have expanded their presence in the Charleston area this year, including Kaman Engineering Services, Textron Aviation and Pacific Rim Aerospace. Here at the airshow, representatives from the Charleston Regional Development Alliance (Hall 3 Stand B23) are available to discuss opportunities and developmental resources in the region.
