Boeing 787 Line Number 86 took off from Paine Field in Everett, Wash., at 11:19 am local time today for a “routine” test flight to address ongoing systems upgrades separate from those related to the airplane’s battery. A Boeing-owned airplane built for LOT Polish Airlines, Line Number 86 traveled west over the Pacific Ocean, then south on a path over coastal Oregon, then northeast to Grant County International Airport in Moses Lake, Washington, where it landed at 1:31 p.m. Although flight plans called for the airplane to take off again at 1:55 and land at Paine Field at 2:21 p.m., it left Moses Lake immediately after it landed for its return to Everett at an estimated arrival time of 1:57 p.m.

In a statement, Boeing said the airplane would fly its battery certification testing mission “in the coming days.”
