Jakarta-based PT Sky Aviation plans to start operations with three Fokker 50 turboprops during this year’s first quarter, following the launch of scheduled service with a Cessna Grand Caravan between the cities of Surabaya, Banyuwangi and Denpasar on December 29. The company plans to use the Fokkers to serve regional networks in Sumatra as well as for charter operations for oil and gas companies. Fokker Services has agreed to support PT Sky Aviation’s Fokker 50s under the terms of a contract signed on January 11. The Dutch company launched its FlyFokker support program roughly a year ago and hopes to tap into a Southeast Asian market served by more than 100 Fokker airplanes.
