Allegheny County Executive Dan Onorato and officials from the county airport authority last month confirmed that they have begun talks with Fort Lauderdale, Fla.-based Gulfstream International Airlines to restore nonstop air service from Pittsburgh International Airport to several regional communities. Dubbed the Pittsburgh Connector, the plan calls for re-establishment of service to Harrisburg, along with several cities that lost their link to PIT since 2003, when US Airways began to dismantle its once substantial hub there.

“We hope this new service can begin as early as the first quarter of 2010 and grow to encompass four to eight communities within the year,” said Gulfstream v-p of corporate development Mickey Bowman.
