Finmeccanica subsidiary Alenia Aeronautica yesterday completed its acquisition of 25 percent plus one share of Sukhoi Civil Aircraft Company (SCAC), Finmeccanica announced yesterday. SCAC leads the design, development and production of the Superjet 100, a new family of regional jets covering a capacity range of 75 to 110 seats now in the midst of its flight-testing program. The consummation of the deal accompanied a series of new agreements the Italian group signed with Russian concerns yesterday, including a pact between Finmeccanica’s Selex and the Russian companies Scartel and Russian Electronics to collaborate in the security sector.
In 2007 Alenia Aeronautica and Sukhoi Holding formed SuperJet International, a joint venture based in Venice responsible for marketing, sales and aircraft delivery in Europe, North and South America, Africa, Japan and Oceania, as well as after-sales support for the Superjet around the globe. Superjet International recently opened new offices in Moscow and Washington, D.C., and signed Lufthansa Technik Logistik as its exclusive global logistics provider to manage Superjet 100 spares distribution centers worldwide.
