SkyWest To Cut Midwest Flying
St.

St. George, Utah-based SkyWest on September 8 will drop service to seven airports from Milwaukee as financially troubled code-share partner Midwest Airlines moves to cut systemwide capacity by 34 percent. The cuts involve Baltimore/Washington; Hartford, Conn.; Louisville, Ky.; Muskegon, Mich.; Raleigh/Durham, N.C.; St. Louis; and Wausau, Wis. and will result in the removal from service of nine of 21 Bombardier CRJ200s SkyWest flies as Midwest Connect. SkyWest vice president of finance Michael Kraupp said that the airline continues to negotiate with Midwest about further changes to its airline services agreement. Midwest failed to pay a $3.3 million receivable due SkyWest by June 30, forcing SkyWest to record a full reserve and corresponding reduction in revenue during the second quarter.
