Singapore Airlines last Thursday took delivery of its sixth Airbus A380. The airplane arrived in Singapore at 8:23 a.m. local time, following a ferry flight that took off from the Airbus Delivery Center in Toulouse, France, a day earlier.
Singapore planned to place its sixth A380 on a daily service between Singapore Changi and London Heathrow Airports, starting Saturday, September 20. Singapore-London will become the first city pair in the world served twice a day by the superjumbo.
The second daily A380 service will depart Singapore as flight SQ318, and return from London as flight SQ321. Another A380 flies from Singapore to London as flight SQ322 and from London to Singapore as SQ317.
The first airline in the world to fly the A380, Singapore Airlines placed the first into service in October 2007. Apart from London, the airline operates daily A380 flights between Sydney and Singapore, and Tokyo and Singapore.
Following the delivery of its sixth A380, Singapore Airlines holds firm orders for 13 more A380s and options on another six.
