Nav Canada last month proposed a 3-percent reduction in its customer service charges, effective September 1. This is the second consecutive year that the country’s ATC provider has cut its charges, following an average reduction of 1.8 percent that took effect last September. With this proposal, overall service charges will have grown 7 percent since they were fully implemented in 1999, an estimated 13 percentage points less than inflation, the agency said.
With the introduction of very light jets, Nav Canada also proposed to implement a new $140 daily fee, as well as movement-based charges on jet aircraft weighing three metric tons (6,614 pounds) or less, effective March 1 next year. Comment deadline on the proposals is June 22.
