Comair Gets Heavy-duty Nod

Comair’s Cincinnati maintenance and repair facilities received FAA approval to perform third-party heavy maintenance on other airlines’ 50- and 70-seat Bombardier CRJs, making it one of nine Part 145 CRJ repair stations in the U.S. and potentially softening the blow of a major cut in Delta Connection flying. Early last month Comair submitted a bid to Delta to maintain a large portion of flying that now appears likely to go to another partner due to the Cincinnati-based regional’s inability to agree on pay concessions with its pilots. Comair also expects to receive third-party repair station certification for its Orlando base “in the coming months,” and plans to expand its airport customer service operation to serve more air carriers.
