Air medical service operator CareFlite, based in Grand Prairie, Texas, received final approval for its network of 17 IFR approach procedures to hospitals within a 150-mile radius of the Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex in December. Hickok & Associates, of Orange Beach, Ala., which developed the approaches for CareFlite, announced the approval here at Heli-Expo. Said Ray Dauphinais, CareFlite vice president of operations, “Filing IFR directly to the hospitals allows CareFlite crews to accept missions they otherwise would have to refuse, increases the service we provide to the public and satisfies the same IFR safety recommendations the FAA is now recommending to all air medical services.” CareFlite is the first AMS operator in Texas to invest in a network of IFR approach procedures. Hickok & Associates is exhibiting at Heli-Expo in Booth No. 4024.
