Colombian domestic airline AeroRepublica has placed a firm order for five 108-seat Embraer 190s and options on another 20 of the latest member of Embraer’s E-Jet line. A wholly owned subsidiary of Panama’s Copa Holdings, AeroRepublica plans to start taking deliveries in November and immediately press the airplanes into service on existing domestic routes.
Later, AeroRepublica expects them to play an important role in developing new international service and cultivating its alliance with Copa Airlines, through joint expansion of route networks. Its country’s second-largest domestic carrier, AeroRepublica serves 12 cities in Colombia and Copa Airlines’ Hub of the Americas in Panama through daily flights from Medellin and Cartagena.
