A full 10 months after winning certification by Brazilian authorities and eight months after starting service with JetBlue in the U.S., the Embraer E190 on June 30 received its type approval from the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA), clearing the way for entry into service with Finnair and Air France subsidiary Régional. Helsinki-based Finnair plans to take the first of six 100-seat E190s soon after it accepts the last of an order for 10 E170s this fall. Also planning to take its six E190s in a 100-seat layout, European launch customer Régional expects deliveries to start during next year’s first quarter. Régional’s firm order, placed last September, took the place of an earlier order for seven 50-seat ERJ 145s.
