A lifelong aviation enthusiast who joined&nbsp;AIN&nbsp;in 2007, Curt came to&nbsp;the publication&nbsp;from the broadcast industry where he was a national science and technology television reporter and producer. He writes on the FBO field, aviation finance, and sustainable aviation and occasionally contributes to&nbsp;AIN&nbsp;sister publication&nbsp;Business Jet Traveler. Curt was a member of the AINtv reporting staff that won the 2008 Aerospace Journalist of the Year award for Best Airshow Daily. That same year, he was a finalist for another AJOYA award. He earned an AJOYA for Best Business Aviation Submission in 2018 and was a finalist in that category in 2021. He received the National Air Transportation Association’s&nbsp; Aviation Journalist Award in 2012 and won a Pegasus Sapphire Business Aviation Award for outstanding journalism in 2021.
Before joining AIN, Curt worked with&nbsp;Consumer Reports’ television division, CRTV, and for several local television news staffs. An honors graduate of the State University of New York at Stony Brook, he earned a master’s degree in broadcast journalism from Boston University in 1995. Curt lives in New York State with his wife and two young sons.

DG Fuels has chosen Moorhead, Minnesota, as the site of a $5 billion sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) production facility. With a planned capacity of 193 million gallons of SAF a year, the plant—which will use agricultural and wood waste as feedstock—would represent half the annual jet fuel usage at Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport (KMSP). It is expected to be operational by the end of this decade.
The news was greeted with enthusiasm by the <a href="https://www.ainonline.com/aviation-news/aerospace/2024-09-10/minnesota-saf-coalition-notes-progress">Minnesota SAF Hub</a>, which looks to establish the first large-scale SAF production value chain in the region and its leadership in the Greater MSP Partnership.&nbsp;This move represents the most significant commitment yet toward establishing commercial-scale SAF production in the state.
Additionally, it furthers the hub’s key goals of creating demand in order to attract supply, partnering with the state of Minnesota to incentivize and de-risk the SAF market, and ensuring that the benefits of the state’s SAF economy will accrue statewide.
“This exciting announcement demonstrates how building a new SAF economy in Minnesota will create opportunities that stretch from the tarmac of KMSP to every corner of the state,” said Greater MSP Partnership president and CEO Peter Frosch.
Earlier this year, DG Fuels announced similar projects in Louisiana (118 million gallons of annual SAF production by 2028) and Nebraska (193 million gallons by 2030).
