Tamarack, Kaman Team on Military Winglet Possibilities
The collaboration will enable Tamarack to leverage Kaman’s expertise on the defense side.

Tamarack Aerospace Group (Hall 2 Pavilion 2186) is partnering with Kaman Composites–Wichita (Hall 3 Pavilion 3160) to target select military applications for the former's Atlas Active Winglet technology. Announced Tuesday at the Farnborough Airshow, the collaboration will enable Tamarack to leverage Kaman’s expertise on the defense side. The companies said they have identified specific potential platforms for the technology.

“We are excited to have a partner in Kaman that has deep experience on military programs,” said Tamarack president Brian Cox. Noting the success the Atlas winglet program has had with Cessna CitationJets, he added, “Our Active Winglets have the ability to add performance benefits to a broader assortment of military and commercial platforms without the weight and cost penalties of other solutions, which require structural reinforcement of the wing.”

“The collaboration between our two companies will capitalize on the synergy resulting from the complementary capabilities we each offer,” said Mark Withrow, vice present and general manager of Kaman’s U.S. composites business. “Our agreement combines the innovative technology of the Tamarack Aerospace Atlas Active Winglet with Kaman’s engineering, contracting, and structural-fabrication capabilities.”
