Dedeco Intros Sunburst Abrasives
New line from former 3M division aims to offer competing products for demurring, cleaning and finishing aerospace metals

Abrasives specialist Dedeco (Booth N414), a former division of 3M, introduced at NBAA 2017 Sunburst, a new line of thermoplastic abrasives for deburring, cleaning, finishing and polishing aerospace metals. The products compete with and are the only alternative to 3M Scotch-Brite Bristle Discs and brushes, according to Dedeco. Sunburst’s color codes are “virtually identical” to 3M’s, and have been tested as “comparable to, and in some cases better than, the competition,” the Long Eddy, New York company said. In addition, Sunburst is less expensive; offers a wider selection of shapes, sizes, assortments and packaging options; and is very effective at low speeds with less pressure, according to Dedeco.

“We are thrilled to extend our decades of expertise in specialty abrasives to the aerospace sector and are certain customers are going to appreciate the quality, increased options and lower prices that Sunburst brings to market,” said Steven Antler, Dedeco’s chairman and owner.
