The FAA is extending the public comment period for its draft environmental assessment of the Southern California Metroplex project to September 8 to allow for a full 90 days of comment. The NextGen-based project is a comprehensive air safety and efficiency plan to improve air traffic flow into and out of Southern California, similar to plans implemented over the past 12 months in other major cities around the U.S.
The Metroplex proposal encompasses most of Southern California and includes Los Angeles International, Long Beach, San Diego International, Van Nuys, John Wayne, and Palm Springs International Airports, as well as 13 others sites in the region.
