Reed Exhibitions, organizer of Asian Aerospace in Hong Kong, said exhibitor commitments are up 60 percent compared with the same period before the last show held there in 2007. Boeing, Bombardier, Lufthansa Technik, SR Technics, MTU and CFM
International have signed up for the biennial show, planned for next September 7 to 10. Asian Aerospace has become primarily focused on commercial aerospace and civil aviation rather than military aviation after Reed Exhibitions pulled out of the show’s previous venue in Singapore over disagreements with the government. Another factor is that most Western countries do not permit military exports to China. A stronger defense presence is expected at the new-look Singapore Airshow, the next running of which is planned for February 2 to 7, 2010, at the island-nation’s Changi Airport.
