The UK Trade Investment and the Defence Export Services Organisation (DESO) and the Society of British Aerospace companies, together, are taking active roles at Asian Aerospace 2006 by mounting a UK pavilion as well as bringing a trade mission to Singapore.

Boasting one of the largest national pavilions at the show, some 26 British companies are promoting their skills and expertise in Hall A. While many of the smaller and medium-sized companies are grouped together in the UK Pavilion, a large number of UK-based companies are exhibiting within the other main halls, with active government support.

However, in addition and to complement the UK Pavilion, the SBAC and government agencies have worked closely together to organize a trade mission to Singapore for other companies from the UK aerospace sector. This will allow those not exhibiting to attend and pursue new business. Claiming to be the second largest defense equipment supplier after the U.S., the UK has won an average of $8.75 billion of international defense sales for the past five years.  

From AM Limited offering repair and overhaul services, to the Zotefoams company, which manufactures high technology cross-linked block foams, the UK Pavilion encompasses a very wide range of capabilities, both in support and manufactured equipment. For example, the name of the Empire Test Pilots School may recall an imperial past but its reputation for excellence in very much more than pilot training is respected worldwide.  

The participation of Heward Microjets in AA2006 brings its range of turbojet, turboprop, turbofan and turboshaft engines to the attention of some exhibitors that are becoming active in the development of unmanned aerial vehicles.  By contrast, the state-of-the-art electronics, control systems and utilities produced by Ultra Electronics have brought it to the forefront as a supplier of innovative aerospace solutions.
