Fort Lauderdale-based aviation services provider Sheltair has received approval for an amendment to its lease at Northwest Florida Beaches International Airport (ECP), where it operates the lone FBO. The company will begin construction on a five-acre expansion project, which will more than double its ramp area, by year-end and expects to complete it by next spring.

Sheltair has experienced increases in general aviation traffic during the peak summer season since 2010, when it opened its new build FBO at the Panama City airport, which features a 10,000-foot runway.

“The additional five acres will increase our capacity for aircraft operations and parking while also improving safety and convenience to both transient and tenant based customers,” said Sheltair ECP general manager Michael Lerma.
