Basel-based Amac Aerospace is completing a Boeing 747-8 for a Middle Eastern customer and an ACJ319. “We are now in the final installation phase of the interior” of the 747, said Amac Group COO Bernd Schramm. This is the company’s first 747 completion but Amac has widebody experience from finishing private Boeing 777-200s and -300s. The 747’s executive-configured portion is confined primarily to the back of the aircraft, featuring two bedrooms, an office and main lounge, while airline-style first-class seating areas are in the forward cabin area. The project’s completion is expected by year-end. Amac’s in-house design team is mostly idle for this project; the owner’s designer sent the design package and specifications, and Amac submitted the winning proposal.
Amac is also nearing completion of an ACJ319 for an Asian customer. This interior features “quite a bit of carbon fiber,” Schramm said, and the company spent months searching for and testing materials. “You have so many different kinds of carbon supplier, but it’s difficult to find the quality that meets our expectations.” Delivery of the ACJ319 is planned for next year’s second quarter.
