India’s Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) is preparing for another FAA inspection early next month that the South Asian nation hopes will restore the Category 1 safety status the country lost in January. That’s when the FAA, on behalf of ICAO, found a number of inadequacies in regulatory oversight. To improve its overall safety record, the DGCA needed to recruit 75 chief flight operations inspectors. Fifty-six have already been hired, and the remaining 19 are expected to start work by November 15.
