While most of the news about Pratt & Whitney Canada at NBAA 2014 included the terms “PW800” and “Gulfstream,” the Longueil, Canada engine maker also highlighted some impressive achievements among its legacy offerings. Since its entry into service on Cessna’s Citation Sovereign in 2004, the PW306C has surpassed two million flying hours, contributing to the more than 13 million flight hours accumulated throughout the PW300 engine family. Also reaching the two-million-flying-hours mark in 2014 is the PW600 series that powers light jets including the Eclipse 550 and the Embraer Phenom 100, while the PW500 family is expected to reach the 12-million-flying-hour mark shortly. PW&C certified its first business aircraft turbofan, a variant of the JT15 for the first Citation, in 1971.
