Quest Aircraft of Sandpoint, Idaho, received FAA approval for installation of a TKS anti-ice fluid tank in the forward section of the single-turboprop Kodiak’s optional underbelly cargo pod. The current installation features cockpit-console mounting for the tank.
The pod installation does not reduce cargo weight capacity and only marginally decreases cargo space, the company said. The tank size remains the same 16 gallons for the pod installation.
Last month Quest received FAA approval for integration of the Garmin GFC 700 automatic flight control system in the Kodiak. Deliveries will start later this year.
On the sales side, Quest signed an agreement with SkyView Aircraft (Jiangsu) Industry Co. earlier this month to represent Quest as its exclusive dealer of the Kodiak in China, Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan. The contract also outlines plans for limited assembly and eventual manufacture of Kodiaks in China.
The agreement calls for SkyView to purchase 10 Kodiaks in 2014 and 2015 and to manufacture the Kodiaks they sell in China by 2019. SkyView will also act as an authorized service center for Kodiaks.
