Enstrom Gets FAA Approval for G1000H Cockpit
The all-glass flight deck will offer simplicity, safety and situational awareness benefits to the OEM’s 480B helicopter.

Rotorcraft manufacturer Enstrom received FAA certification to install the Garmin G1000H glass cockpit in its 480B helicopter, which will be known as the 480B-G.

According to the Menominee, Mich.-based company, the first of G1000H-equipped 480B is nearing completion and is expected to be delivered shortly.

“Combining the G1000H with the safety and handling qualities of the 480B make this an exceptional helicopter for anything, including personal use, police work and training,” said Bill Taylor, the company’s director of engineering. The 480B joins the Bell 407GX and AgustaWestland AW119Kx as the only three helicopters to currently offer the G1000H cockpit, which reduces pilot workload and displays critical flight and engine information in a clear manner, increasing situational awareness. The yet-to-fly Bell 505 JetRanger X will also be equipped with the G1000H.
