Avfuel is once again sponsoring one of the most popular attractions at EAA AirVenture: the Boeing B-17 Yankee Girl, owned by the Michigan-based Yankee Air Museum. While nearly 13,000 of the four-engine World War II bombers were built, only 10 of them remain flyable today.
“The B-17 represents an important piece of military and aviation history, which is why Avfuel and the Yankee Air Museum are committed to bringing this incredible aircraft to the public at AirVenture,” said Marci Ammerman, the global fuel provider’s vice president of marketing. “Avfuel is proud to play a part in delivering this unique experience to aviation enthusiasts.”
The Flying Fortress is centrally located in Boeing Plaza this week, and show visitors can explore the aircraft and interact with knowledgeable museum volunteers. In addition, Avfuel has on hand for show-goers cold water and other necessities such as sunscreen and earplugs. At 2 p.m. on Tuesday through Friday, company representatives will toss special giveaways to the crowd from the wing of the airplane.
