The second quarter of 2014 has been good to ST Aerospace, which booked $520 million worth of contracts during the quarter.
ST Aerospace (Chalet B18/19) booked a five-year agreement with a regional airline in the U.S. for heavy maintenance on 42 Embraer E-170 and E-175 jets. The maintenance will be done at ST Aerospace’s San Antonio, Texas facility.
In Guangzhou, ST Aerospace received FAA, EASA and Chinese CAAC Part 145 approval. This makes it possible for the company to service aircraft registered under those authorities’ frameworks.
During the second quarter, ST Aerospace redelivered 229 aircraft following maintenance and modification work, plus work was completed on 11,191 components, 56 landing gears and 49 engines, and it performed 2,505 engine washes for commercial and military customers. ST Aerospace completed full-cabin reconfigurations on four Air Canada Rouge Boeing 767-300s. In the first quarter, the company did two similar completions for the airline.
ST Aerospace is adding new repair and overhaul capabilities in Singapore for UTC Aerospace Systems electrical and air-management products installed on the Boeing 787. The ST Aerospace facility in Scandinavia added new component capabilities for Boeing’s 737 NG and 767 and the Airbus A330.
To meet the need for small parts, ST Aerospace’s investment casting foundry has developed capabilities to manufacture parts using 3-D printing for rapid prototyping and small-scale production.
ST Aerospace’s U.S. subsidiary VT Aerospace has acquired full ownership of Aviation Academy of America, a Part 141-approved pilot training operation. Juneyao Airlines extended its contract with ST’s Singapore pilot training academy, and the contract covers training for another 40 cadet pilots for the airline.
