Since the opening of the first of three phases in planned expansion of its FBO at Fort Lauderdale/Hollywood International Airport last year, Sheltair reports the $25 million complex is home to more than 30 business jets and five new operators, while six existing aviation businesses there have expanded their operations. The Florida-based company also welcomed a full simulator flight training facility to its campus. With the addition of more than 100,000 sq ft of hangar space, the new complex boosted aircraft storage at the facility to more than 192,000 sq ft and added more than 30,000 sq ft of adjoining office space. The new hangars, constructed from concrete for improved severe weather protection, can accommodate aircraft the size of a G650.

The FBO campus, which has easy access to the airport’s recently expanded 8,000-foot runway, includes the terminal with 24-hour onsite U.S. Customs, onsite car rental, café and dining area as well as executive conference rooms. Work on phase two of the expansion is slated to begin this year, and the company is talking with candidates interested in built-to-suit facilities and pre-leasing opportunities.
