Houston-area Airport Gets New FBO

After more than a year of construction, Galaxy FBO is in full operation at its new facility at Lone Star Executive Airport in Conroe, Texas. Galaxy FBO had been providing service at the location since 2006. In 2012 Black Forest Ventures purchased the company and undertook construction of the new complex. The terminal occupies the entire 17,000-sq-ft first floor of a three-story building and includes lounges for passengers and crews, and an A/V-equipped conference room that can seat 100 people. The second floor houses a pair of conference rooms as well as tenant offices and a satellite facility for sister company aircraft charter management provider Wing Aviation. The third floor features the Black Walnut Café, a casual restaurant serving breakfast and lunch, with an outdoor patio that overlooks the apron and Runway 14-32. A pair of 50,000-sq-ft hangars that can accommodate aircraft the size of a G650 round out the new 15-acre complex. One of the hangars is intended for use as based and transient aircraft storage, while the company expects to lease the other to a private flight department. The Phillips-66 branded dealer also offers a 17,000-sq-ft arrival canopy and more than nine acres of ramp parking with tie-downs embedded in concrete.

The airport is undergoing a runway extension project to increase the length of 14-32 to 7,500 feet from 6,000. That project is scheduled for completion in June. Construction of a new U.S Customs facility is expected to begin later this year.
