Wilson Air Center has begun the second phase of expansion at its FBO at Houston Hobby Airport. Phase one consisted of a total renovation of its existing facility, including pilots’ lounges and snooze rooms, a presidential suite and more than 80,000 sq ft of hangar space. The next installment will include the construction of a G650-size 25,000-sq-ft hangar with office complex. Once that project is completed in the spring, Wilson expects to launch the third phase of the multimillion-dollar project, which will include a new 10,000-sq-ft executive terminal featuring a 35-foot-tall glass façade providing views of the airport and downtown Houston. Also planned is a 100,000-sq-ft expansion of ramp space to support the recent increase in traffic at the airport and the new terminal operation.
A fourth phase calls for the construction of more private and community hangars and up to 20 “condo hangars” for aircraft owners seeking privacy and tighter security. That project has yet to be finalized.
