Flight Safety Foundation and Mitre Ink Analytics MOU

The Flight Safety Foundation (FSF) signed a memorandum of understanding with Mitre on October 31 to collaborate on developing database solutions to emerging aviation safety issues at both the local and regional level around the world.

Both organizations believe there is a “global need and an economic imperative for aviation data-sharing initiatives,” the FSF said in a statement. “Given the complexity of today’s global air navigation system, the analysis of diverse types of data is essential to accurately correlate multiple attributes that, in combination, have the potential to create systemic vulnerabilities that elevate safety risks,” said FSF president and CEO Kevin Hiatt.

The collaboration is expected to publicize program benefits and share critical know-how. “We have regions of the world that have not been exposed to this type of process,” Hiatt added. “With FSF’s international reach and Mitre’s data analysis expertise, we’ll have a tool that can be used to reduce the risk of accidents and incidents.”
