IMT Spotlights Covert Surveillance Technologies

Integrated Microwave Technologies introduced a new tool for aerial surveillance Tuesday at Heli-Expo โ€˜13. The Mobile Viewer-BC Dual-Diversity COFDM Briefcase Receiver/Monitor is intended for law enforcement, public security monitoring and covert surveillance operations.

The Mobile Viewer-BC is a ruggedized COFDM (coded orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing) dual-diversity receiver/monitor that is mounted inside a custom briefcase designed by IMT sister company Petrol Bags. The unit receives video images on an eight-inch high-visibility display and supports a variety of input and output formats. An internal, removeable rechargeable battery supplies power to the unit for four hours, according to the company.

Integrated Microwave (Booth No. C3916) also highlighted its enhanced SkymasterTX Digital COFDM video downlink transmitter, which has been upgraded to be MPEG-2 or MPEG-4 compatible for users with legacy receive systems. The unit can operate on a variety of bands, and can deliver SD and HD video resolutions.

The SkymasterTX also features a built-in GPS receiver, allowing the aircraft to be tracked by its command center on a moving-map system. The unit also allows airborne aircraft to seamlessly switch from one receive site to another, and it can be quickly removed and mounted on a different aircraft.

Company divisional chief executive Stephen Shpock called the upgraded downlink transmitter โ€œanother example of our commitment to the [military, aerospace and government] market.โ€
