WSI Launches Upgraded Flight Planning Tool

Online information provider Weather Services International (WSI) has enhanced the functionality of its popular Pilotbrief Optima platform with the addition of global optimized flight planning. At NBAA’s Schedulers & Dispatchers annual conference in San Antonio this week, the Massachusetts-based company demonstrated the system’s new capabilities.

The product brings together the company’s weather forecasts and data with flight planning and filing capabilities on one platform. Among the features it offers business jet operators are performance-based navigation routings, RAIM outage calculations, fuel reserves and flight delay risk assessments for both U.S. and international flights.

“WSI is known for providing great weather to corporate flight departments no matter where they fly in the world, and now they will have the capability to run optimized global flight plans right next to their WSI weather,” Jamie Zajac, the  company’s WSI Pilotbrief product manager told AIN.

The new system—for use on iPad and online—will be available next month.
