The Aviation Safety Network has reported on the status of equipping Russian commercial aircraft with airborne collision and avoidance systems (ACAS) as well as ground proximity warning systems (GPWS) now that the July 1, 2012 deadline in the Russian Federation has passed.

Russia’s Federal Air Transport Agency said that of 1,411 Russian-built aircraft (533 airplanes and 878 helicopters) 1,104 do not require ACAS according to a new Russian FAR-128. Of the 307 that do require ACAS, 283 are so equipped. Of the 533 airplanes requiring GPWS, 401 are equipped.

The remaining 131 aircraft are either still being updated or have been removed from service.
