The FAA has issued a Final Rule amendment superseding an existing airworthiness directive for specified Eurocopter AS350s and AS355s with certain tail-rotor pitch-control rods installed. The pre-existing AD required a daily check of the tail-rotor pitch-control rod outboard spherical bearing for play. If play is found, that AD required measuring the bearing’s radial and axial play. Since that AD was issued an incident occurred that prompted the FAA to amend the AD to include the AS355NP.
