Garmin, Aircell Tops in AIN Avionics Support Survey

In the AIN 2011 Product Support Survey results for cockpit and cabin avionics manufacturers, readers chose Garmin and Aircell as this year’s top providers of aircraft electronics products. Garmin scored an overall average rating of 8.35, up from last year’s first-place 8.07. In second place again this year was Universal Avionics, with an overall score of 7.85, down slightly from last year’s 7.92. Third place went to L-3 Avionics Systems at 7.76, up from last year’s 7.58. Aircell won the highest rating on the cabin avionics side, with a 7.90 rating, up from last year’s 7.54. Heads-Up Technologies took second place this year, with a rating of 7.81, while Rosen Aviation claimed third with a rating of 7.74, up from last year’s 7.17. Of the 19,200 AIN readers invited to participate in the Product Support Survey this year, 1,180 provided ratings, for a response rate of 6 percent (up from 5.3 percent last year). Ten of those AIN readers were randomly selected as winners of an Apple iPad loaded with apps by APG, LogTen and Hilton Software (WingX).
