Dassault unveiled the Falcon 2000S at May’s Ebace show as a lower-cost replacement for the 2000DX. Range of the 2000S is 3,350 nm, 100 nm greater than the DX. The 2000S’s simpler fuel system helps keep the price below $25 million. Modifications, including inboard slats and a standard autobrake, lower approach speed by 10 knots, which improves takeoff and landing performance. Another aid to keeping the price down is a non-customizable floorplan for 10 passengers. Pratt & Whitney Canada PW308C engines feature an improved Talon II combustor, which reduces nitrous oxide emissions to 40 percent below CAEP6 standards. The cabin management system is by Rockwell Collins, and satcom is provided by Aircell’s Axxes II Iridium system. Avionics remain the Falcon 2000-series Honeywell Epic-based EASy II. The Falcon 2000S first flew on February 17. Certification is planned for the fourth quarter of 2012, followed by entry into service in the first quarter of 2013.
